My Psychotherapy Sessions

Are you contemplating psychotherapy? Often, a focus of therapy is to modify old patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns are formed from your unique life experiences as you adapt and cope with family and social influences and perhaps other intense emotional experiences.

In therapy, we focus on important themes in your life and areas which you define as problematic. Perhaps you desire to focus on important personal or work relationships, or internal experiences such as uncomfortable emotions and thoughts.

During the process of therapy, you receive guidance and encouragement to focus on the things that you can control and change. So a common outcome of therapy is less emotional reactivity on your part and the freedom to choose more useful responses.

You may also begin to explore your beliefs about yourself, feel differently about yourself, and enjoy a more positive mental attitude.

Individual and Couples Therapy

Everyone struggles with life at some point. I believe therapy is a process to help you understand your relationship with yourself and others.

My goal is to provide you with a comfortable, safe space where you can experience a trusting, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. We can then focus on issues and themes that are important to you.

Sometimes we must deal with life transitions, trauma, family, and/or relationship challenges. We may find ourselves facing uncomfortable change, new boundaries, and experiences. There are times when things must change if they are going to get better.

I can guide you as you resolve experiences from the past that strongly affect your current life. Many people struggle with the critical inner voice comprised of negative thoughts and attitudes towards themselves and others. This includes fear of failure, expecting the worst, and other self-limiting thoughts.

Our self-esteem is often shaped by our history of both positive and negative experiences. By doing the work in therapy you can develop a kind and nurturing inner voice. You can learn to strengthen your sense of self-worth and value and realize your own abilities. You can also develop self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-kindness.

Perhaps you desire to strengthen and improve your important relationships. Let’s focus on identifying and changing communication and behavior patterns that keep you from feeling understood and connected. Let me help you work through difficult issues and explore underlying emotional triggers which will allow you to take responsibility for what you bring into the relationship.

You may also discover that your past family of origin experiences color your current relationships. This path of discovery will allow you to create healthy boundaries in your relationships and find more peace and contentment in the present.
